Noida: Separate counters for women and senior citizens in some banks

Following a order by Noida's district magistrate, NP Singh, banks opened separate currency-exchange counters for women and senior citizens. However, a few banks were unable to do so due to technical reasons.

Akansha Chaubey, a resident of Sector 15, said, "There was separate line for women and senior citizens, but there was only one counter inside the bank. So a separate line was of no use, really. The banks should have made some arrangements for us and the elderly -- it's very difficult otherwise."

Kapil Kumar, who had queued outside the PNB in Sector 1, said he had come with his father to exchange the notes, but there was no separate line or counter for the senior citizens.

However, a few banks in Noida did follow the directive. Priya Singh, a resident of Sector 19, said YES Bank in Atta Market did arrange a separate counter to allow ease of transaction.
