New year's gift for Ghaziabad residents

Ghaziabad residents are in for a pleasant surprise this December. Here is a list of urban developments that will make things easier for them:

Ghaziabad railway station to become free Wi-Fi zone
Passengers will soon enjoy free Wi-Fi at the city's railway station. The facility is expected to be ready by December 20. The RailWire internet service is to be extended to the Old Ghaziabad railway station as well.

E-challan for traffic violations
Traffic violators will soon be able to pay fines through their debit and credit cards. Ghaziabad traffic police is set to introduce e-challans by December end. Rajesh Kumar, SP (Traffic) Ghaziabad, said the e-challan application has been sent for trial and the department will receive the challan devices soon. The invoices will be printed by a mini-printer connected with a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Lanes of New Link Road from Meerut Road to NH 24 to be opened
The New Link Road flyover connecting Meerut Road to NH 24 will be opened to public in December. Only the lanes towards NH 24 have been opened for now, and those towards NH 58 will be opened by December 13.

Flyover construction to begin in Rajnagar Extension
Construction work for a flyover at the Rajnagar Extension intersection, one of the main traffic-congestion points in the city, is set to begin by the second week of December. The 900-m-long flyover on Meerut Road will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 45 crore and will be ready for commuters by next year. Commuters headed from Ghaziabad towards Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Uttarakhand will benefit the most from the flyover.
