Why exactly did Noida Authority dismantle the height barriers in Sec 51

Noida Authority on December 13 dismantled two illegal height barriers installed by the RWA of Sector 51, Noida. Residents suspect the Authority took the action under someone's pressure and complained that the barriers were removed without any prior notice.

Arun Kumar, the Noida Authority junior engineer under whose supervision the barriers were dismantled, admitted that he had not received any complaint on the height barriers from residents. "The height barriers were illegal as the RWA had not sought any permission for installing them," said Kumar. "I had informed the RWA over phone and told them to remove the barriers but since they did not comply, we had to get it removed ourselves."

"We had installed the barriers to prevent school buses from parking inside the society," said Sanjeev Kumar, general-secretary of the RWA. "Every other day these buses from Manav Rachna International School used to park inside the Sector. The school must have pressurised Noida Authority to remove the barriers."

On contacting Manav Rachna International School, Sector 51, a school official, on the condition of anonymity, said Kumar was pursuing a vendetta against the school. He alleged that Kumar used to stop buses from only their school and allowed other school buses to ply through the Sector uninterrupted. The school official pointed out that one of the barriers had been installed right in front of the school's emergency exit. "How could we have used the exit in case of an emergency?" asked the official. "The school hasn't got anything to do with the dismantling of the barriers. Also, although our buses pass through the Sector, they never park inside it."

Surprisingly, senior officials of Noida Authority said they wern't even aware of the issue. When City Spidey contacted RS Yadav, project engineer in charge of the are, he said he had no clue about the dismantling of the height barriers.
