IP Ext: Maintenance payment through cards for societies

To tide over the cash crisis and provide some respite to the residents, the CGHS managing committees have decided to carry out the transactions through card-swipe machines.

The residents of co-operative group housing societies in East Delhi's IP Extension will soon be paying monthly maintenance charges through debit cards.

The managing committees in the area unanimously agreed to use card-swipe machines so residents could make payments without being harassed for cash. The decision was taken at a meeting held at IPEX Bhavan, the head office of IP Extension CGHS, and was attended by representatives of all 75 housing complexes.

Meanwhile, Mswipe, a leading card-payment processor in India, gave a demonstration on how to operate card-swipe machines.

Madan Mohan Khatri, general secretary of the federation, told City Spidey, "Demonetisation has left residents cashless, and they are finding it difficult to pay the monthly maintenance charges. So, we decided to get card-swipe machines for societies. We have also hired a private firm to learn the process of transacting through these machines."

Khatri added that ever since demonetisation was announced, maintenance work in all housing complexes had to be put on the back burner.
