Indirapuram: Aditya Mega City RWA told to hold meet over residents’ concerns

The deputy registrar, Meerut, wrote to the RWA of Aditya Mega City, Sector 22, Indirapuram, on December 21 to conduct the annual general meeting (AGM) to discuss and get approval from the residents over the audited balance sheet of the residents' body for the tenure 2015-16.

The RWA was told to respond within 15 days from December 21. The deputy registrar also instructed the RWA to withdraw the appointment of the assistant secretary of the RWA immediately.

According to residents of the society, the last AGM of the RWA was held in November, 2015, in which the audited balance sheet for the tenure 2014-15 was approved by the residents.

On June 26, 2016, a general body meeting (GBM) was held in which the appointment of a chartered accountant was approved by the old RWA and fresh election was called for the 10 board members. The election was held on July 24, 2016, in which the 10 board members were elected as per the UP Apartment Act, 2010. They took over the RWA on July 28, 2016.

Meanwhile, residents began suspecting financial discrepancies in the accounts of the old RWA and started demanding the new RWA members that they conduct the AGM to clear their doubts.

Abhishek Tyagi, a resident, told City Spidey that residents have been demanding the meeting so that the income and expenditure details of the former RWA can be disclosed to them. “Discrepancies in the opening balance of the current body will invite more trouble. If not sorted timely, it would lead to more confusion and would affect future RWAs of the society,” he added.

Residents also complain that the RWA president created a new post of an assistant secretary in the body and made an appointment for the same in violation of the UP Apartment Act, 2010.

The society’s bye-laws permit for the post of a president, a vice-president, a general secretary, a treasurer, and a joint secretary along with five other board members in the RWA. There is no provision for the post of an assistant secretary.

Taking into consideration the concerns of the residents, Amardeep Singh Viz, a board member of the RWA, approached the deputy registrar, Meerut, who in turn wrote a letter to the general secretary of the society’s RWA.

When City Spidey took up the matter with VK Sinha, the RWA president, he confirmed that he had received the letter and said that he would decide upon the future course of action after discussing the issue with all board members. "We will also respond to the order of the deputy registrar in the given time," he added.
