A delegation comprising of nine residents of Sector 137, Noida, is set to meet Deepak Agarwal, the chief executive officer of Noida Authority, at his office in Sector 6 on December 30. They would apprise him of the issues in the sector.

Agarwal took charge of the post recently. Believing in his capacity to take tough decisions and promises to establish transparency in the administration, residents decided to approach him. They had earlier met his deputy, Saumya Srivastava, who promised them with solutions. But it’s been a few months and their problems haven’t been addressed yet.

Nandini Srivastava, a resident, said that the officer had assured of imposing a penalty of Rs 20,000 on those caught dumping garbage at a big ditch in Sector 92. “But garbage collection agencies are continuously dumping waste there. I don’t think that the authority has nabbed any defaulter till date as garbage can still be seen at the site,” she said.

“I have heard a lot about the CEO. As the district magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar, he had taken tough action against sand mafia. He is also well aware of the issues in Noida and Greater Noida. I think he will listen to the residents of the sector, who have been neglected in the past,” she added.

The residents have made a list of issues to put forth at the meeting. Himanshu Pant, another resident, said that the residents are forced to consume hard water as the sector does not get soft or mixed water supply from Noida Authority. “There is another issue of placing streetlights near Exotica Fresco Apartment. It causes law and order issues in the area. Fearing an untoward incident, maids have stopped coming to the residential societies after dusk,” Pant added.

K Malik, another resident, said that the sector has not been included in the recently launched city bus service routes. “The shuttle buses run by Noida Metro Rail Corporation ply through Sector 142, which is closer to Sector 137. I will convey the CEO to direct the officers concerned to cater to out sector too,” he said.
