Numerous cases of cheating in the name of selling flats have recently surfaced in Noida Extension, popularly known as Greater Noida West. The latest is the case in which flat buyers allege that a builder, Value Infrabuild India Limited, has made off with more than Rs 35 crore collected from them in the name of flat booking.

In 2013, Greater Noida Authority had allotted land to the company for its project, Skywalk. It was to consist of three towers of 33 storeys each. The company took money from homebuyers for flats, promising possession in 2017.

However, let alone completion and possession, buyers say even construction hasn't started yet.

Pawan Agarwal, a buyer, complained to the top officials of Greater Noida Authority, saying that the builder had taken Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh from every buyer but has now gone silent. “There is no representative at the site office to answer our queries,” he added.

Himanshu Oberoi, another buyer, told City Spidey, "On not finding anyone at the site office, we approached the company's head office in Delhi, but even that was empty."

More than 40 hapless buyers have filed criminal cases against the builder. Buyers have been desperately trying to meet Deepak Agarwal, CEO of Greater Noida Authority, but have not been able to so far. They are demanding that the builder either give them possession or return their money.

When buyers met Janardan, ACEO of Greater Noida Authority, he told them that a notice had already been served to the builder. He assured the buyers that once the Authority officials managed to speak to the builder, the allotted plot could be reclaimed under the project settlement policy. The buyers could then be compensated from the allotment money that was taken by the Authority from the builder.
