Residents celebrate at Gaur City, Sector 18, Noida, on December 31.
Residents of Noida’s newly developed sectors, such as sectors 119 and 120, gave a grand farewell to 2016 as they organised parties with foot-tapping music and enthusiastic crowds.
The celebrations started late in the evening on December 31 and continued late in to the night in some residential societies, such as Eldeco Edge, Gaur Grandeur, Amrapali Platinum, Amrapali Zodiac, RG Residency and Prateek Laurel.
“Wow! It’s so exciting. There is no age bar here. Couples, children and even the elderly have come. It’s such a closely-knit community that no one can feel lonely here. We’re celebrating with so much pomp and grandeur,” said Umesh Bansal, a resident of Eldeco Edge, Sector 119.
Residents of the society had taken keen interest in organising the event. A game meant for couples was a special affair at the venue. NK Sharma, another resident and member of the society’s cultural committee, said, “Most residents, including me, loved the couples’ game which was conceptualised by a woman resident for couples in the society. It was a spectacular event that continued for four hours.”
Disc jockeys, orchestra and bands of the respective societies were all roped in to make the celebrations memorable for all residents. Uday Jain, secretary of apartment’s owners association of Prateek Laurel, Sector 120, told City Spidey, “Women and children loved the games that we had organised. The society also distributed prizes to those who won in these games. For entertainment, the society had hired professional singers and dancers. I am sure everyone enjoyed themselves. These memories will last a lifetime.”
The celebratory mood was no less in Amrapali Zodiac, Sector 120. PM Tiwari, a resident, said, “We brought a music system and played popular Bollywood songs. As the music played, residents let their hair down and grooved to the rhythm. We all had dinner together and exchanged new year greetings. There were many, however, who preferred celebrating in their homes.”
“Though we had to pay for some of the services, we did enjoy a lot together. We had pool dinners in our society,” said Hardeep Singh, a resident of Amprapali Platinum, Sector 119.
There was no arrangement for beer and wine though at any of the societies. They had stalls for different delicacies and food items, which the residents relished during dinner.
