Krishna Apra Gardens, a residential society in Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, has taken commendable steps to improve the cleanliness of its compound.

The society AOA is slapping a fine of Rs 2,000 on pet owners whose pets are found defecating on the premises, and a penalty of Rs 500 for those spitting inside the compound.

The rules were passed at a general body meeting in December, after taking the consent of residents and board members.

Footage from 80 CCTV cameras installed in the society is being monitored. Violators are being asked to provide a written apology, and also the assurance that there will be no repeats.

"Ever since we decided to fine, people started paying attention to keeping the society clean. We have not received a single complaint after we implemented the rules," said Mohit Dwivedi, AOA president.

The AOA maintained that the society had gotten cleaner since the implementation, and there have been no violations.

Given the current situation, violators can pay fines via Paytm. If they refuse to do so, the amount is to be deducted from their prepaid maintenance payments. In case of non-payment, the violators will not be able to get any more recharge coupons.

Similar steps were also taken by the AOA of HRC Professionals Hub, another residential society in the neighbourhood. “We have had similar rules since last year. In case we find animal poop in the compound, we scan CCTV footage to find out who the pet owner is. If it’s the first time, we demand a letter of apology. We ask the owner to ensure that the mistake is not repeated,” explained Mohit Mishra, AOA president.
