Streetlights, open-air gyms and much more, promises East Delhi MP.

About 50 parks in Mayur Vihar Ph I to be lit up soon Mahesh Giri, Member of Parliament (East Delhi), addresses residents at a meeting

All parks in residential areas in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase I will soon have streetlights. Mahesh Giri, Member of Parliament (East Delhi), announced this at a meeting with RWAs in Mayur Vihar Phase I on January 10.

He said, “Within the next two months, all dark areas will have streetlights. Open-air gyms were set up in two parks, and in the next round, about five more will come up. I request residents to keep their parks clean and green. By the end of March, about 50 parks will have streetlights. RWAs also need to look after the development of their parks.”

In August 2016, a group of RWAs and group housing societies in Mayur Vihar Phase I had apprised Giri of the deplorable condition of parks. CP Mehra, an RWA member in Mayur Vihar Phase I, told City Spidey that RWAs had handed over a list of issues, which included the need for open-air gyms in arks, streetlights on roads and removal of encroachments outside housing complexes. “However, no development work was done,” said Mehra.

“From August to November 2016, we approached him many times to get these issues sorted. As I was the one who led the group, I received an invitation from Mahesh Giri’s office on January 7, and came to know that he was coming to inaugurate streetlights in 10 parks in the area. It was probably done because municipal elections are round the corner. Nevertheless, the RWAs welcome the development and are thankful to him,” added Mehra.
