Vasundhara: Filing park-related complaints just got easier

Residents of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, can now file their horticulture- and park-related complaints at the municipality's waterworks office in Sector 10.

Earlier, to lodge a complaint, residents of Vasundhara had to visit the municipal corporation's office in Navyug Market, which was far from most residential areas.

According to municipal officials, there have been over 600 complaints regarding maintenance of parks and central verges in Vasundhara zone in 2016 alone, of which only 60 could be addressed.

Yogendra Yadav, the corporation's waterworks in-charge, has also taken up the responsibility to maintain the area parks. He also activated a mobile number, 9899030824, to file complaints via phone. Residents can now file a complaint by calling the number directly.

Yadav said watering of green belts, tree planting and maintenance of boundary walls and gates were on his priority list. A plant-distribution programme will also be introduced to cater to resident demands.

He has also planned to levy fines for littering in the green belts. "A detailed proposal has already been sent to the corporation headquarters," he added.

Members of Safai Express, a group of residents from Vasundhara who voluntarily clean and maintain the area, said the local office has made things much simpler for residents.

Vasundhara currently has about 400 parks, distributed across localities such as Vaishali and Kaushambi.
