Consortium of Societies Ghaziabad, or COG, a group of residents from Ghaziabad, has initiated drives to ensure maximum turnout at the upcoming state elections. Sharat Jha, president of COG, told City Spidey that the awareness programmes would be conducted in multiple phases till the elections.

The drives include putting up posters and banners in residential societies, conducting rallies with schoolchildren, candle marches, hand-in-hand marches and tying large air balloons on society terraces.

“The drives are being conducted as part of the voter’s awareness programme of Ghaziabad Development Authority and Election Commission. Banners and posters encouraging residents to cast their votes have been posted in Rajhans Kutumb. Similar drives will be carried out in other societies as well,” said Jha.

“We also participated in a rally of schoolchildren on January 19," said Arif Khan, general secretary of COG. "The rally started at Rajhans Kutumb near Kala Patthar Marg and went on till the CISF camp at CISF road in Indirapuram.”

The candle march is scheduled for January 21. It will be followed by other interactive activities such as painting and rangoli-making in residential societies in Indirapuram.
