Residents of Noida and Greater Noida will not be able to book community centres in the twin cities from February 8 to February 11.

According to an order passed recently by NP Singh, district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, no community centre will be booked for any function in Noida and Greater Noida as polling booths will be set up at all community centres.

RS Chauhan, district information officer, told City Spidey that the order has been released to all RWAs in various sectors of the twin cities. “If a resident has already booked a community centre during these dates, the booking shall stand canceled. The person can opt for private banquet halls to hold the function,” Chauhan added.

Rishipal Awana, RWA president of Sector 19, Noida, said that the RWA canceled bookings after receiving the order from the DM. “Some residents wanted to book the community centre for a function on February 10, but members of the RWA discussed the matter among themselves and canceled the booking,” Awana said.

When City Spidey spoke to NP Singh, president of Federation of Noida Resident Welfare Association (FONRWA), he said that the federation supports the decision. “Residents may face some problems but the election process is also important. People have other options, such as banquet halls, to hold functions,” Singh added.
