Noida playschool gets rooftop solar power plant

An 8-KW grid-connected rooftop solar power plant was inaugurated at a playschool in Sector 19, Noida, on February 4.

The solar power plant, installed by Xpanz Energy Solution LLP, will supply power to Little Scholar School for 25 years. Any excess power generated will be given to the UPPCL through net metering.

The chief guests at the inauguration were Yogesh Malik, CEO of Xpanz Energy Solution LLP, and Ranjana Bhargav, principal of the school.

The plant, which is expected to generate about 12,000 units of electricity per year, has been installed at a cost of Rs 4,32,000, in accordance to the norms of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and specifications recommended by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). It uses the latest photovoltaic solar panels of 315 watt capacity.

Malik told City Spidey, “The plant is going to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 9.34 tons [over a year]. I want to see the rooftops of every residence and educational institution equipped with these solar panels. There is also a 30 per cent government subsidy for installing the panels.”

“Solar energy is mankind’s most viable energy source now,” said Bharghav. She thanked UPPCL officials for their support in approving the project and providing net metering facility for the solar power plant.
