Knocked-down barricades on a Sohna Road stretch
The traffic police of Gurgaon and MCG officials are set to take remedial measures for the city's roads to ensure commuter safety.
On February 19, a team comprising MCG officials and Road Safety Officers (RSOs) conducted a survey of Sohna Road and Sector 44 around 9 am to inspect the condition of dividers, potholes and kerb stones.
After the inspection, MCG officials sent labourers with construction material and road-repair tools for the reconstruction of broken roads. The main aim was to remove obstacles such as protruding railings, barricades and debris that hindered the smooth flow of traffic.
The team started from Subhash Chowk and repair work was completed by evening.
“This step will ensure smooth traffic and road safety. Many accidents happen due to overspeeding and sudden turns on roads. Broken dividers were repaired, and in many stretches dividers that were removed by motorists were replaced,” said Balbir Singh, DCP (Traffic).
Raj Kumar Singh, an RSO, said, "If we all work together as a team, it will be easy to resolve petty issues and ensure a good condition of roads. Due to this initiative, commuters will have a smooth ride and chances of skidding on the road will be low. We want everybody to reach their homes safely. This way traffic snarls can be reduced too.”
Road repair work will be taken up every Sunday in different parts of the city, an official said. The team will visit Sushant Lok II and Sector 56 next week for repair work.
