Paying heed to the demands of DLF RWAs in Gurgaon, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has begun work on improving electrical infrastructure.

The RWAs had been complaining to DHBVN officials about frequent power cuts during summers. Sometimes the power cuts last more than 12 hours, with residents having to fall back on pollution-causing generators.

Kuldeep Nehra, SDO of DHBVN, says, “We are changing old cables with new ones so they do not get damaged under high load. We will complete the work by March 31. Transformers that have high load will either be replaced by new ones or have their oil changed. We assure DLF residents of uninterrupted power supply.”

The discom is also installing meters outside homes to curb power theft.

Residents, however, seem sceptical of the development. “Only time will tell if power supply improves in the summers. Every year they promise to provide 24-hour power supply, but the situation remains the same. It is true that they are changing cables. Let’s see how long these cables hold up,” says RS Rathee, RWA president of DLF Qutub Enclave, DLF Phase I.
