New substation to end Vasundhara's power woes

Officials of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) said this, along with two 10 MV transformers, will solve the issue of frequent power cuts in the area.

New substation to end Vasundhara's power woes

A new substation in Sector 16, Vasundhara, may soon end power woes of residents in the area. The substation, along with two new transformers, is expected to be ready by March and functional by the first week of April.

The current substation, also in Sector 16, caters to sectors 1, 3, 5, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. However, a steady increase in the number of consumers over the years has overloaded the present system, causing frequent faults and trips that cause five- to seven-hour-long power cuts during summers. The new transformers and substation, which will be installed near the existing one, are set to share the heavy demand with ease.

Work on the foundations of the two 10 MV transformers is currently under way. The transformers are scheduled to be installed by February end. Following that, electrical panels will be installed. According to the plan, the substation will first undergo testing and then start supplying power. Officials of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) said that once functional, the new substation would draw power from the 220kV substation in Sahibabad.
