Sec 56, Noida: The rift between the old and the new RWA presidents

It's been six months that Sector 56, Noida, held its RWA elections, but the rift between the losing and the winning parties still persists. The ruling RWA accused Mohan Singh, the former president of the resident body, of flexing muscles to terrorise residents.

In a written allegation, Sanjay Mavi, the incumbent president of the RWA, alleged that his predecessor had fought with a security guard on February 28 and threatened to shoot him. He added that Singh had allegedly broken the lock of the entry gate that opened toward the road between sectors 55 and 56.

He added that the gate was closed for restricting unwanted traffic through the sector road. Opening the gate was a security threat, as cases of vehicle theft and chain snatching were reported in the past, he said.

Mavi alleged that Singh had lost the last election held in September, 2016, and since then, had been trying to disrupt the sector's development work.

Mavi claimed that he had lodged a a written complaint against Singh at the Sector 58 police station but was not sure whether the complaint had been converted to an FIR.

Refuting charges levelled against him, Singh said the current RWA was trying to malign him. "Why should I disrupt the development work of the sector?" said Singh. "A lot of work had been carried out during my tenure as RWA president and the new president is only trying to mar my reputation."
