Noida: Water woes at Supertech Capetown

About 2,000 residents of Supertech Capetown, a residential society in Sector 74, Noida, have been grappling with the problem of high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) levels in the water supplied to them for the past one year.

According to residents, the water being supplied by the builder is not potable. The TDS levels have been recorded between 1500 mg/l to 1800 mg/l. Residents say they are dependent on packaged drinking water for their domestic purposes.

Bhupendra Rautela, a resident, told City Spidey, “The water being supplied is unhygienic. Skin problems and hair fall issues have increased in the last six months."

Anshuman Dixit, another resident, said, “The maintenance team haven’t been able to resolve the issue. It was agreed upon that overhead tanks would be cleaned every six months but unfortunately this has not happened. Moreover, the water treatment plant installed does not have the capacity to cater to our needs.”

“If maintenance team are unable to bring the TDS levels to acceptable levels, which is from 500 mg/l to 800 mg/l, they should bear our medical bills and refund the water connection charges of Rs 25,000," Dixit added.

When City Spidey spoke to Raj Kumar, facility head of the society, he said that the problem arose due to the construction work on NH-24 where a Ganga Jal water pipeline has been damaged.

“The TDS level of the water increased in the last two months. We are also in touch with Noida Authority officials to solve the matter," he added.
