Sushant Lok I residents to protest again over MCG takeover

Residents of Sushant Lok I, Sector 43, Gurgaon, are planning to stage a peaceful protest on March 11 demanding immediate takeover of the township by the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and the construction of roads. The protest is set to be held at Gate no 1 of Block C.

Residents have been demanding the takeover as the builder has not been able to provide basic amenities. They had held a protest on February 11.

Neelu Sharma, a resident, says, “We are planning to protest again to highlight the issues and will focus on the internal roads, which are almost non-existent. The takeover by MCG seems like a long battle. Nothing is being done to improve the state of affairs either by the developer or the government, despite clear directives by the Chief Minister’s office for takeover of private colonies.”

Sushant Lok I residents have also requested residents of DLF Phase I, South City I and Ardee City to join the protest as they are facing similar issues.

Sachin Kapoor, another resident, says, “Broken roads cause a lot of inconvenience. I am scared to take my grandfather out on his wheelchair due to the state of the roads. I work with foreigners who also visit me at my home. I feel ashamed of Sushant Lok I’s infrastructure. What impression will they get?”

“We are living in a so-called hi-tech city that has the best shopping malls, but is lacking in basic infrastructure and concern for residents,” he adds.

YS Gupta, MCG commissioner, had met the residents during the previous protest and had assured to look into the matter. According to him, the handover is taking time as the developer has not furnished the requisite documents for further processing.
