Has GDA disrupted services post the tiff with FedAOA?

Members of FedAOA and residents of Ahinsa Khand II in Indirapuram have alleged that all maintenance-related services in their area had been disrupted following a tiff between GDA officials and FedAOA members in a meeting conducted on March 16.

Declaring it as an aftermath of levelling corruption charges against Chakresh Jain, the executive engineer of GDA, FedAOA members said several services such as ganga-water supply and cleaning of blocked sewer lines had been suspended in the area.

Members also claimed to have evidence of GDA staff collecting bribes for providing services of super-sucker machines, which are used to clean blocked sewer lines.

Following the altercation with Jain, members of FedAOA had also lodged a complaint with the Integrated Grievance Redressal System of the Uttar Pradesh government. A response to their complaint is awaited.

Speaking with City Spidey, DK Maurya, president of FedAoA, said they were preparing a contempt petition against GDA for defying a High Court order that directs the Authority to sort out the sewer-related problems in Ahinsa Khand II.

"We are also going to approach the Uttar Pradesh Lok Ayukta to check the accumulated property and wealth of Chakresh Jain and other such officials," said Maurya. "Residents are also planning to conduct a protest against the misdeeds of GDA soon."

Speaking with City Spidey, Chakresh Jain, executive engineer of GDA declared the FedAOA's allegations a sham and a publicity stunt for gaining attention.

"They are unnecessarily trying to malign my reputation and are conducting a propaganda campaign to tarnish my image," said Jain. "They can take any step they want, I will come out clean."

However, when asked about suspending maintenance services in Ahinsa Khand II, Jain said no such step had been taken by GDA. "I am an officer appointed for development, how can I take such measures?" asked Jain.
