Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA), an association of homebuyers of Greater Noida West, wrote a letter on March 20 to Adityanath Yogi, the new Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, demanding intervention in the issue of possession of their houses in the city.
NEFOWA demanded stringent action against the builders, and the officers concerned of Noida Authority and Greater Noida Development Authority. A copy of the letter was also given to Pankaj Singh, the local MLA.
The letter states that the builders should be instructed to speed up construction of housing complexes as their completion has been delayed by a few years now. They should also be ordered to compensate homebuyers for delay in possessions.
It demanded that the chief minister enforce the UP Apartment Act strictly and violators not be spared. The government should ensure that the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2015, is implemented in the state without any amendments in the original bill that was passed by the central government. Real Estate Regulatory Authority should also be constituted at the earliest.
The letter insists that the government pass an order for CAG (Comptroller and Auditor-General of India) audit of the Greater Noida Authority to verify the alleged irregularities in the office. The government should immediately initiate action, especially against those officers who benefited builders and did not maintain transparency while allotting plots to private developers for group housing projects. NEFOWA demanded that action be initiated against those officers who are involved in the alleged irregularities.
Shweta Bharti, general secretary of NEFOWA, told City Spidey that she expected the government to initiate appropriate action. She said, “We have urged the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh to pay attention to homebuyers’ grievances as we have not been given possession of our homes and the projects have been delayed by more than five years.”
