Gurgaon: Pipeline rupture hits water supply Several areas near Sector 17C have been left waterlogged owing to the rupture

Water supply in several areas of Gurgaon has been hit hard due to a master-pipeline rupture at Sector 17C near Iffco Chowk. The water comes from the Basai treatment plant and goes to the Sector 16 boosting station.

Underpass work has been going on for some months at Iffco Chowk, causing a rupture in the pipeline. Several nearby areas have been left waterlogged due to it. Supply from the Basai plant has also been stopped.

Many areas of the old city — Sector 22, Sector 23, Sector 5, Sheetla Mata Mandir, Sector 14, Bus Stand, Sector 29, Sushant Lok and Sikandarpur — are dependent on this pipeline for supply.

HUDA administrator Yashpal Yadav said, “The master pipeline will be repaired soon, and supply restored as fast as possible. We have stopped supply from the Basai plant to prevent wastage of water. The construction company should maintain caution while digging near water pipelines.”

Bijender Malik, sub-divisional engineer of HUDA, added, “We sent a team to the spot as soon as we received news of the leakage. Things will be normalised — there’s no need to panic.”

This pipeline was also damaged in February.
