Sec 54, Gurgaon: Child rights awareness programme at Suncity

To spread awareness among children about their rights, the RWA of Suncity, a township in Sector 54, Gurgaon, organised a programme at its community centre on March 22.

Highlighting issues such as child labour, security and sanitation, the programme had several presentations and displayed interesting banners. The participants included students not just from Suncity but also from other areas.

"A few residents of the township informed us about a campaign launched by Heritage Public School on child rights. We then decided to organise this event," said VM Singh, secretary of Suncity RWA.

One of the participants, Arnab Vaidyanathan, a student of Heritage Public School (Sector 62), said that the school authority had asked them to inform their respective RWAs about the campaign. "We approached the RWA about the issue and they agreed to organise the programme," said Arnab.

"I feel security of children must be ensured and child labour must be abolished,” said Ravi Vaidyanathan, Arnab's father.

Parents of the participants were also present to encourage their children.
