Gurgaon: Residents reach out to PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh

Residents of several societies on Sohna Road, Gurgaon, shared their problems with Rao Nirbir Singh, the Haryana Public Works Department minister, on March 25 during the minister’s visit to these societies.

Residents had invited the minister after their attempts at raising their concerns with the district administration failed to bear any fruit.

Ved Prakash Arya, RWA president of Eldeco Mansionz, Sector 48, told City Spidey, “We raised several issues with the minister. Our swimming pool was shut in 2014 and we were told by the authorities concerned that we didn’t have a license. The minister has asked the authority to solve the issue. We also apprised him about the inflated water bills. Issues such as drainage and waterlogging are common in our society. The minister assured to look into the matter.”

Rajesh Chandra, RWA president of Ashiana Silver Crest (Block P), said, “The construction of a mall near our society is causing pollution and they are not following National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) norms. Warerlogging is another problem in our society. He assured us that the government will construct a new drain.” Residents also apprised him about the lack of a community centre in the society.

The RWA of Vipul Tatvam Villas, Sector 48, had also invited the minister. Meera Singh, the RWA general secretary, said that residents raised the issue of a hefty maintenance fee being charged in the society. “The builder has given us a notice for payment of VAT and has threatened to collect VAT with interest if we don’t pay. VAT cannot be collected on immovable assets. The minister assured us that he will discuss the matter with the Chief Minister.” she said.

“We requested the minister to ask the Haryana Urban Development Authority to provide water in our society as hard water is being supplied as of now. Badshahpur drain water has come to our society due to blockage in the drain. He assured us that the drain will be cleaned. Residents have deposited Rs 23 crore with the builder which the builder does not want to return. The minister told us that he will talk to the builder regarding the issue,” she added.

When the minister visited Vipul World, Sector 48, residents raised the issue of bad condition of road from CD Chowk to Fazilpur, traffic congestion and encroachments. They demanded a foot-over bridge on Sohna Road and the opening of a road that was closed by a school. This road directly connects Block A to Sohna Road.

Rajesh Malik, president of the RWA, said, “We requested the minister to organise an Aadhaar and voter card camp in our society. Most of the residents don’t have voter cards. He was ready to organise such a camp on April 2. He asked the HUDA officials to open the road which connects Block A to Sohna Road. We demanded the covering of an open area of Badshahpur drain and he responded positively. He didn’t agree to the construction of the foot-over bridge, but he was ready to construct an under bridge for pedestrians. He also assured us that the condition of road from CD Chowk to Fazilpur will be improved and that the road will be widened in 5 months”.

The RWA of Spaze Privy, Sector 72, had also invited the minister. Residents raised the issues of occupation certificate, digging up of road from CD Chowk to Fazilpur, and frequent power cuts in summers.

Yogita Dheer, RWA president of the society, told City Spidey, “The builder was also present during the meeting. The minister asked the builder to solve our problem. Due to a policy change, the builder could not give us occupation certificate. The minister assured us that he will discuss the issue with the Chief Minister. He also assured us about the proper power supply in summers. An Aadhar and voter card camp will be organised in our society on April 2.”

Singh told City Spidey, “Residents frankly shared their problems and I assured them of appropriate action.”
