Here are City Spidey's top five picks from Noida and Ghaziabad:

Ball in CM's court: Amid growing resentment against the UP government’s decision to raise stamp duty for registering property in the city from 5 to 7 per cent, Noida MLA Vimla Batham met Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the Vidhan Sabha. She apprised him of the people’s anguish over the move. Meanwhile, homebuyers have embarked on an online signature and letter campaign against the proposed hike.

Hashtag campaign for RERA: With the end of the Parliament session drawing closer, homebuyers in Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida hastened to run an online campaign for the passage of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) Bill. They tagged PM Modi, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu in tweets and videos, with hashtags #passrerabill and #fightforrera, to reach out to the leaders in a desperate bid to get the Bill tabled during the current session.

Online realty check: Homebuyers in Noida can soon access the details of realty projects online. Noida Authority has decided to upload the details on its website to help homebuyers who are facing problems due to delayed delivery of flats. Focus will be on the projects that have been granted occupation certificates.

Hi-tech surveillance: If Noida Authority’s plan materialises, mobile towers across Noida will soon serve as vantage points for hi-tech surveillance. The Authority will instal high-definition CCTV cameras on these towers. The video feed received from these cams will be transmitted to the police control room through high bandwidth fibre optic cables.

Green ban flouted: One year has passed since the National Green Tribunal banned all diesel vehicles more than 10 years old from plying on NCR roads. But the RTO does not seem to be serious about its implementation. The bureau is found to have issued fitness certificates to two such commercial vehicles (trucks). The state transport commissioner has ordered a probe into the matter.
