Rampant encroachment on the HUDA-owned service lane has made it difficult for residents to even exit or enter their society, leave alone taking a walk outside.
The residents of Uniworld Gardens I on Sohna Road in Sector 47, Gurgaon, are having a hard time entering and exiting their condominium, thanks to rampant encroachment on the service lane.
The service lane comes under Haryana Urban Development Authority’s (HUDA) green belt.
Besides complaining to the RWA repeatedly, the residents have written to the authorities several times. But no action has been taken so far.
Several shops have been constructed on the green belt. "We have an automobile workshop, a bike-repair shop, a dhaba, a chai shop, two property dealers, a chemist, an electronics repair shop and a florist. There's even a temple here. Everything you can imagine is on this HUDA-owned land. Most people visiting these shops park their vehicles in front of the complex, making entry and exit a nightmare. The automobile workshop quite blatantly keeps the cars to be repaired in the area adjoining the workshop, and it is constantly expanding its operations,” complained Nirlept Singh, RWA president.
Rakesh Johar, a senior resident of the condominium, added, “These illegal structures should be removed immediately — they are an eyesore and cause a lot of inconvenience. Sometimes, we can't even walk to the mall next door.”
There are safety issues as well. Ashish Shukla, another resident, said, “With so many strangers around, it has become impossible for the women and children to walk freely outside the complex.”
HUDA administrator Yashpal Yadav admitted, “The matter has indeed come to our notice, and we will take appropriate action.”
