Things are heating up in 15A

Noida's first solar-powered all-weather swimming pool is here. And it's in Sector 15A.

Sector 15A became the first in Noida to feature a solar-powered all-weather swimming pool in its clubhouse.

The 25x12m pool varies in depth from 3 ft to 12 ft and can hold up to 650 kilolitres of water.

"A special project team including thermal engineering experts prepared the technical specifications for the pool's heating system. The team, led by committee member Sudipta Roy, efficiently supervised the supply, installation and commissioning of the project," said Inderjit Sial, the RWA president.

The entire system has been designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by Inter Solar Systems Pvt Ltd, a Chandigarh-based ISO-certified company. The system complies with the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy and IREDA specifications.

With the installation of 100 solar panels on the club terrace, the pool will maintain a temperature of 25±10°C throughout the year. These solar flat plate collectors are fitted with high-transmittance textured glass and a collector efficiency on a par with international standards (74.5%). The heating system is integrated with the existing pool-water pumping and distribution channels. The heating system will also include efficient low-capacity heat pumps and a floating pool cover to minimise heat loss.

"Residents should be able to use the pool 11 months a year, with one month off for annual maintenance," said Roy. He added that with almost negligible maintenance costs for the solar panels, it is a cost-effective and sustainable heating system.

"We have had the pool for 20 years now, but we have been thinking of this solar-power project for about a decade. It was something all of us wanted, and it is finally here," said Sanjeev Sareen, the RWA secretary. "The next step will be to instal a retractable roof over the pool."

Wow! Now that would be cool!
