Noose tightens on builders of Universal Aura, Canary Greens

Homebuyers of Universal Aura, a residential project in Sector 82, Gurgaon, and Canary Greens, a residential project in Sector 73, Gurgaon, met YM Mansoori, the Allottees Grievances Redressal Forum (AGRF) subcommittee chairman and senior town planner, over the possession of flats on April 6.

Universal Aura project was launched by Universal Buildwell Private Limited and Canary Greens project was launched by Today Homes. While representatives of Universal Buildwell were present at the meeting, there were no representatives of Canary Greens.

At the meeting, homebuyers demanded a date for possession of their flats. The STP asked the builders to submit the project plan and details via email by April 11. The STP also asked the builder to give possession in 12 months and submit details of progress of work every week. Another meeting between the builders and the buyers was also scheduled to be held on April 12.

Mansoori told City Spidey, “If representatives of Today Homes do not attend the next meeting, then we will give recommendations for strong action against builder to the director general town and country Planning (DGTCP).”

Homebuyers of Universal Aura

Homebuyers say Universal Aura builder had launched the project in 2010 and had promised to give possession in 2015. But the builder stopped construction work three years ago.  Canary Greens project was launched in 2010 and the builder had promised possession of flats in 2014.

Gagan Paul Vithal, a buyer and an executive member of Universal Aura Welfare Association, told City Spidey, “Whenever we asked for possession of flats, the builder gave us false excuses. It was the same story today at the meeting. The representatives said that the contractor had left the project and they’ve hired another contractor for the remaining work.”

Dinesh Saharan, another buyer, said, “We are not satisfied with the meeting. We want Universal Buildwell’s managing director to be present in the next meeting. If STP does not solve our problem, we will hold a big protest. If the builder can’t give us possession, then we want our money refunded with the interest.”

Rajiv Kumar Goel, president of Canary Greens Buyers Welfare Association, told City Spidey, “The builder has disobeyed the STP’s orders every time. The builder’s representatives were also not present in the meeting held on March 28. We found out at the meeting that the builder’s license was cancelled three years ago. They are still demanding the remaining money from us. They also cancelled 2 units. The STP asked us to file complaint against the builder and that every affected buyer has to give a complaint and submit details of their flat. The STP will take action according to their complaint.”
