Disgruntled parents meet DM over school-fee hike

About 200 members of Noida School Parent Association (NSPA), an group of parents protesting against arbitrary school-fee hikes gathered at Noida Stadium in Sector 21A and marched to the District Magistrate (DM) office in Sector 27 today.

Parents said schools these days had become money-making businesses rather than the revered institutions that used to provide education. They complained that schools had hiked fees up to 75 per cent this academic session without any prior notice. The parents said the schools should not charge any late fee, as the last date of fee deposition is just around the corner. They also demanded that the schools should also not rusticate their wards for late fee-payment.

K Arunchalam, general secretary of both NSPA and Cambridge School Parent Association, told City Spidey that this march was a wake-up call for all private schools of Noida. “We met NP Singh, DM of Gautam Budh Nagar and spoke to him about our demands."

The DM assured all the parents that he will send a notice to all Noida schools instructing them to not charge late fees and to not rusticate any student for late fee payment.

Arunchalam also said that on April 12 all parents whose wards studied in Cambridge School, Sector 27, will conduct a protest outside the school premises.
