What did Noida Authority and Amrapali Silicon City residents talk about?

Noida Authority officials on Wednesday (April 12) called a meeting to discuss issues faced by homebuyers and residents of Amrapali Silicon City, a society in Sector 76, Noida. The meeting was held at the Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6. Representatives of the builder were also present at the meeting. The meeting was led by Shishir Singh, ACEO of Noida Authority.

Residents of Amrapali Silicon City said they had been living in the society for the past two years but the builder had not yet provided basic amenities. They complained that the builder was yet to take a Ganga jal connection and that residents were forced to use borewell water for daily use. The builder had also promised a 10,000 sqft club with facilities such as library and swimming pool, but had failed to deliver on even that.

Residents and homebuyers also said the builder was constructing 100 shops within the society, which was illegal.

Buyers complained that despite having booked flats in 2012 and depositing 90 per cent of the total apartment cost, they were forced to live on rent. "Every time we met the builder, we got a new commitment for the possession of flats. Yet, we are yet to get possession," said Sunita Verma, a homebuyer.

Rajender Pal, a resident of Amrapali Silicon City, told City Spidey that the builder was also supposed to complete the project by last year. "There are 1,500 families living in the incomplete society and many more have to come in but are forced to stay away due to lack of facilities," said Pal. "The builder has not even installed a firefighting system. Is the builder waiting for a mishap to happen?"

Residents and homebuyers were happy with the meeting and most are sanguine that the Authority will help solve their issues. "It was decided that the builder's representative will submit a tower-wise progress report to Noida Authority in a week," said Sunil Singh, another homebuyer. "Noida Authority officials will also visit the project site for investigation."

Shishir Singh, ACEO of Noida Authority, said the builder had to pay Rs 394 crore to them. "After paying 25 per cent money of the total Rs 394 crore, we will issue a no-objection certificate to the builder, after which residents can get their flats registered," said Singh. "If the builder is found guilty of illegal shops inside the compound, we will make sure they are sealed."

The Authority will visit the project for investigation on April 18.

Shiv Priya, director of Amrapali Silicon City, told City Spidey that the builder had paid off a chunk of the amount, and only Rs 150 crore was pending. "We are trying to get all basic amenities in place as soon as possible. As discussed today, we will submit a tower-wise progress report to the Authority by next week."

The Authority has called a follow-up meeting with the residents and homebuyers of Amrapali Silicon City on April 26.
