The Noida RWA federation met the higher officials of UP Police in an attempt to solve persistent issues such as traffic and security. Sujit Pandey (IG) and Laxmi Singh (DIG) were apprised of the recurring issues faced by residents. The meeting was held in the federation's Sector 52 office on Saturday, March 12.

“Carjacking, chain snatching and theft of mobile phones have become far too common in Noida. The police force needs to bring in more people. Ragpickers, vendors and hawkers should be verified to make the society safer,” said NP Singh, president of the Federation of Noida RWAs (FONRWA).

AN Dhawan, general secretary, FONRWA, urged the police top brass to include more women personnel in the force to ensure women residents feel safer interacting with the police.

"Patrolling needs to be done more often to strike fear in the hearts of miscreants," said Anil Misra, a resident of Sector 46, Noida.

"About 200 new personnel joined our ranks recently; 300 more are set to join soon," said IG Sujit Pandey. He further suggested residents to create volunteer groups that could tackle security problems and traffic snarls in the city.

DIG Lakshmi Singh assured FONRWA that officials from the force would be meeting the federation on the second Saturday of every month to discuss problems and assess progress made by the police.

Additional SP City Dinesh Yadav informed the group about the launch of 16 new police stations in the city. "We have come up with a new way to reduce the response time on calls made to the emergency number 100," he said.

SSP city, Kiran Sivakumar, stressed on the verification of tenants, security guards and domestic help. His other suggestions included mandatory GPS facility in all cars to curb thefts and installation of CCTV cameras across residential areas and other prime locations in the city.
