Residents of New Millennium Apartments, Sector 23, Dwarka, celebrated the festival of Baisakhi on April 14.

Bhangra and Tambola (a game) were the top attractions at the event. Residents, including children, danced to the tunes of Punjabi music and there were presents for children.

The event was organised by a group of residents, consisting mostly of women, who stay in touch with each other through WhatsApp.

Ramanjit Suri, a member of the group, told City Spidey that the idea for the festival came about two-three days ago. “I thought that we should celebrate the Sikh new year and the founding of the Khalsa Panth through Baisakhi. I shared the idea with some women residents through WhatsApp. We discussed it and pooled in some money for the festival.”

“Ours is a society that celebrates culture. We celebrate almost all festivals and believe in unity in diversity. Residents here are like one family and that’s the beauty of our bonds,” he added.

“The festival brought the culture of Punjab in the society,” said Saryu Sabbarwal, another resident, while expressing her excitement.
