FOR THE RECORD: Here's what MLA Sahibabad promised Indirapuram residents

In a meeting with Indirapuram residents on April 16, Sunil Sharma, MLA Sahibabad, introduced a bunch of surprises for residents of the Ghaziabad township. The new promises included a dedicated police station, a new hospital and a degree college in the trans-Hindon belt, all of which have featured at the top of the list of resident demands from authorities. The declarations were made at a meeting between the MLA and the residents. The meeting was held at Ashiana Upvan, a residential society in Indipuram.

The major issues discussed at the meeting were the illegal stone crushers near Ahinsa Khand II, garbage burning at a waste dump in Pratap Vihar and choked sewer lines. Other than these, there were several other issues such as law and order, Metro connectivity, a foot overbridge near Shanti Gopal Hospital for Ahinsa Khand II residents and the dilapidated condition of streetlights in the area.

The MLA assured residents that all issues pertaining to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) would be discussed at a tri-party meeting between him, residents and senior officials of GDA. Speaking about the stone crusher, he said another meeting would be held to discuss the issue. Residents’ representatives, the MLA and the district administration would be present at the meeting. “Indirapuram will soon have its own police station — the Niti Khand police station — to cater to its issues,” Sharma said on the law and order problems in the area.

On the issue of the Pratap Vihar garbage dump, he assured residents that it would be taken care of. “I have already recommended the municipal corporation to concentrate on waste management and recycling instead of looking for space to dump garbage,” Sharma added. “The officers at GDA have already developed some plan for the laying of new sewer lines,” Sharma said.

Apart from residents, several prominent figures such as Alok Kumar from Federation of AOAs, Colonel TP Tyagi from RWA Federation, Sharat Jha from Consortium of Societies Ghaziabad and members of Green Team Indirapuram were present at the meeting.

Ajay Shukla, a resident of Ashiana Greens and one of the organisers of the meeting, told City Spidey that the MLA addressed all the issues and the meeting was a success.
