MCG seals properties of property-tax defaulters
Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has sealed the properties of those who defaulted on payment of the required property tax.

MCG commissioner V Umashankar said that different teams had sealed 44 properties in Zone 4 alone, between April 13 and April 17.

These include 15 properties in Supermart 1 and 2, 18 properties in Sector 29, 2 properties in Qutub Plaza shopping mall, 7 in Sushant Lok I Millennium Plaza and 2 in Central Mall DLF Phase II. In addition, Rs 18,381,911 had been recovered from 141 defaulters. Umashankar said the properties that had been sealed would be auctioned after May 20 if the tax was still left unpaid.

He also lauded the work done by Joint Commissioner YS Gupta and the MCG officers and employees who had helped recover Rs 13,381,911 in just five days through the sealing drive and recovery effort. He underlined that all buildings and properties under MCG's jurisdiction had to pay property tax on time to avoid penalty and an annual interest of 18 per cent. He warned that properties would be sealed and auctioned thereafter.

He reiterated that those who paid property tax by April 30 could avail benefits such as waiver of interest, and save their properties from being sealed. Payment of tax can also be made online at Mcg.gov.in, at MCG offices in Sector 34 and opposite Civil Hospital, as also through Paytm and Axis Bank branches.
