While most societies are known for barring kids from playing outdoor games for the fear of damage to property, the AOA of Krishna Apra Garden has found the perfect solution to the problem.

It has converted an open area in the society into a canopied sports and games facility. The AOA has revamped its basketball court and introduced facilities such as a squash court, carrom boards, table tennis boards and a gym.

The development was resident-funded.

Speaking to City Spidey, Mohit Dwivedi, president of the AOA, said a playground was the need of the hour, as most children these days preferred spending time watching TV, playing video games or hooked to their smartphones and tablets. Dwivedi said since the playground was indoors, common hassles such as cricket balls breaking windows or hurting residents were ruled out.

"Games such as badminton, cricket and table tennis are necessary for the all-round development of children, especially in the current scenario, when children's lives are being weighed down by either studies or forms of entertainment involving zero physical activity," explained Dwivedi.

The playground, however, does have a board urging kids to keep it down while playing to avoid disturbing residents.
