Gaur Global Village, a residential society in Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad, elected its third AOA body on April 24. The formation of the board came after elections held on Sunday, April 23. Keeping in mind the role and participation of women in AOAs, the election committee maintained a reservation of 33 per cent of the total board members for women. Members of the newly formed board said that despite the scorching heat, an impressive 255 votes were cast.

The 10 elected members include Yogesh Gautam as president, Seema Singh as vice-president, Sanjay Kumar Jha as general secretary, Chandra Mohan as treasurer, Sangeeta Singh as joint secretary, and Anita Singh, Bhuwan Tiwari, Sanjeev Pandey, Sanjeev Singh and Saurabh Kumar as the remaining members.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sanjay Jha, general secretary of the new AOA, who was also part of the previous AOAs, said that after much effort, the resident body had taken over the society from the builder last year. Jha said the efforts of the current body would mainly be concentrated on improving the maintenance service and the security of the society. “Daily maintenance work of the society will be taken care of and we will also concentrate on saving funds for emergency requirements,” added Jha.

Sangeeta Singh, the AOA's joint secretary, told City Spidey that the 33 per cent reservation for women was to encourage the participation of women in society affairs. As far as the aims and objectives of the new board was concerned, Singh said apart from handling day-to-day affairs of the society, installing CCTV cameras in blind spots would also be a focus.
