Residents feel traffic on the 30-m-wide road, which is used by thousands of commuters every day, will be congested once the pump is operational.
A four-day protest starting April 27 will be held outside South City II against an upcoming CNG pump in the area. More than 100 residents of 10 condominiums across Sohna Road, Sector 49 and Sector 50 will be staging the protest, which will start from 8.30 am and continue until 7 pm every day.
Residents feel the 30-m-wide road, which is used by thousands of commuters every day, will be congested once the pump is operational. But despite several meetings and protests against the CNG station, the district administration has decided to proceed with the construction of the CNG pump.
“We had met the deputy commissioner about the issue and he directed the HUDA administrator to look into the matter, as the land is allotted by HUDA,” said Neeraj Yadav, RWA president, South City II.
“The RWAs of the area are ready to help the administration in every way possible, but they need to listen to our demands," said Ved Prakash Yadav, member of the RWA, South City II. "Our intention is not to create any problem, but to peacefully get our point across. It is really sad to see the district administration giving an NOC to the pump despite grievances of residents."
The traffic congestion owing to the CNG station's position will block the entrances to various societies such as Sispal Vihar, South City II and Malibu Towne. The traffic disruption will also be a hassle to commuters taking Sohna Road to Faridabad.
Brigadier S Dixit, general secretary of the RWA, said, “We are not against the CNG pump, but its location is a major issue. That road has just 7 m of motorable area. There is no service lane and no footpath. The long queue in front of the pump is going to create a terrible mess. We will keep on protesting until the administration does not relocate it."
There is no CNG pump in the area and once it gets operational, there will be a lot of traffic waiting in the lanes, causing inconvenience to residents. It will take more than 40 minutes to cross the 100-m stretch.
Meanwhile, residents have put forward their protest letter to the DC, Gurgaon police commissioner, DCP Traffic, SHO Sadar police station and administrator, HUDA Gurgaon.
“We have received the representation and are looking into the matter,” said a senior HUDA official.
