A major fire incident was averted at Gaur Green City, Indirapuram, as maintenance staff from the society managed to douse a fire that broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant adjacent to one of the apartment buildings. The restaurant, Nazeer, is located only a few feet from the first-floor flats of Block B.

Speaking to City Spidey, Jigyasu Pan, president of the society's AOA, said the entire society maintenance team of 15 personnel, along with a few of the security guards, had to get involved to get the fire under control.

He further said the society had to lend out its external firefighting pipelines, hoses and fire extinguishers to douse the fire, as the mall in which the restaurant was located did not have a proper firefighting system in place.

“If not controlled in time, the fire could have easily spread to the nearby flats and gone out of control,” Pan added.

The restaurant staff told City Spidey that the fire originated from the tandoor and had gutted the entire kitchen before being doused.

On being asked about the sorry state of the mall’s firefighting system, JN Vimani, in-charge of Gaur Gravity Mall, said that although the mall did not have a firefighting system, it had a few fire extinguishers. Virmani further said the mall and the society shared the firefighting system. The society's AOA has denied this.

However, when contacted, officials of the Vaishali fire station said they did not receive any alert about the fire.
