Sec 56, Gurgaon: Garbage dump near Devinder Vihar irks residents

A huge garbage dump near Devinder Vihar, a condominium in Sector 56, Gurgaon, has become a bane for residents of the society. It is a breeding ground for cattle, dogs, pigs, mosquitoes and flies as the garbage dumped there has not been cleared by the authorities.

Vikram Mathur, a resident of Devinder Vihar, says, “The stench is so strong that we can’t even walk on the stretch of road near it. I wonder why the authorities do not keep such empty plots clear of garbage.”

“We are worried as the garbage dump is also a health hazard for us,” says Sanjay Kumar, another resident.

When City Spidey spoke to Satbir Rohilla, public relations officer (PRO), Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, he said, “The MCG garbage dumps are cleaned regularly. We have taken note of this and would look into it. Addressing residents’ concerns is our prime responsibility.”
