What was once an ignored area is now a popular haunt in Sispal Vihar

The RWA of Sispal Vihar in Gurgaon has recently developed a rose garden in their society. The society already had an impressive collection of seasonal flowers but they wanted perennial plants to be included too, which led to the development of this rose garden.

This nine-year-old society is a home mostly to retired defence personnel.

"Being from the armed forces, we love green open spaces, and nature in general," said Major General (Retd) SK Yadav, president of the RWA. "Recently, the entire green area was revamped. When we thought of getting some perennial plants for our garden, we decided there was nothing better than rose. The rose garden lies in an area that was secluded. No one really visited that area of the society. Now that part is a favourite among residents, mostly kids."

“We have 500 rose saplings planted in the area," said Brigadier (Retd) S Dixit. "A dedicated gardener takes care of watering, manuring and trimming. We have various pockets of seasonal flowers across the parks. Our main purpose is to keep the society neat and green. Thanks to the rose garden, the area looks vibrant and the fragrance around is an additional positive."

Residents believe people from the defence background are known to create life on barren land. This rose garden in an otherwise secluded area is a true example of that.
