Can the SDM spell respite for DPSG parents?

The sub-divisional magistrate has instructed the school to shift the last date of fee submission by a week, and has also called a meeting with parents and the school management on May 1 to discuss the issues.

Can the SDM spell respite for DPSG parents? Parents in a meeting with Gurgaon SDM on April 29

Hundreds of Gurgaon parents protesting against the fee hike by  Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (DPSG) in Palam Vihar have been left bitterly disappointed. The school has refused to roll back the hike. On April 27, the school sent mails to the parents and left notices in children's diaries, stating that the principal and the management has denied the rollback.

The disappointed parents met the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Gurgaon, Bharat Bhushan, on the morning of April 29 to discuss further action.

Yashesh Yadav, a parent, said, “The SDM has assured of action and instructed the school to shift the last date of fee submission by a week. We will approach all the authorities — we’ll continue to fight till we get some respite.”

The SDM said, “The school has been instructed to extend the deadline for fee submission — and they have accepted. We want parents to be given time, and the hike to be justified. We will have a meeting with the parents and the school management on May 1 to discuss the issues.”

On April 28, the parents had met Manish Yadav, BJP youth president, and submitted an objection letter against the fee hike.

Parents from various schools are planning to hold a candle march on John Hall Road, Civil Lines, on April 30 morning to protest against the unjustified fee hike by schools across Gurgaon.
