Gurgaon: Petrified Central Park 2 residents want all lifts replaced

Residents of Central Park 2, located on Sohna Road, Gurgaon, have been afraid of using the society lifts after one of the elevators came crashing down recently. They have demanded the replacement of the lift, addressing their concern to the RWA and the builder.

The incident, in which a family had a narrow escape, has created an atmosphere of insecurity in the society. It has also raised some doubts about the lift manufacturer's competency and residents want the matter to be taken to the police.

Speaking to City Spidey, Arun Oberoi, a resident, said, “The need of the hour is for the senior representatives of the builder to meet us and hear our grievances. The incident is only the tip of the iceberg and we would appreciate complete compliance from the relevant authorities on this. A criminal case against Johnson, the lift company, must be filed.”

Residents said the lifts had always had problems. Repeated attempts to highlight the flaws by the residents have been ignored.

“Each of these sub-standard lifts is a disaster waiting to happen," said Soumitra Karnik, another resident. "We want Shweta Developers, the builder, to cooperate with the residents and solve this issue. The residents want all the lifts to be replaced.”

With nine towers and two lifts in each, replacement of all the lifts will require a major investment.

Rajesh Rustogi, the spokesperson from Shweta Developers, said, “We are carrying out an audit and will soon take over lift-maintenance duties. We will take stringent action against the lift manufacturer, as the safety of residents is of utmost importance.”
