Minister Rao Narbir Singh asked the Divisional Commissioner D Suresh (also chairman of the Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee) to take appropriate action.
DPSG Parents Association today met Public Works Department (PWD) minister Rao Narbir Singh, requesting his intervention in the arbitrary fee-hike issue. After the meeting, Singh asked the Divisional Commissioner D Suresh, who is also chairman of the Fee and Fund Regulatory Committee (FFRC), to take appropriate action.
Singh also assured parents that the matter would be resolved soon. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (North) Bharat Bhushan Gogia, who has been helping parents with the fee-hike issue, was also present at the meeting.
Speaking to City Spidey after the meeting, Singh said, “We are with the parents. I am personally looking into this matter. We have asked the divisional commissioner to take strong action against the school management. If the school management still ignores our guidelines, we will take legal action against them.”
Gogia told City Spidey, “The entire DPSG management will have to be present at the meeting with the divisional commissioner at 11 am on May 8. I assure parents that their problem will be solved soon. I will also be present at the meeting.”
“After the meeting, we, along with SDM Gogia, met Divisional Commissioner D Suresh," said DK Mishra, a parent. "The SDM assured us that the school will have to roll back the fee hike. But only time will tell whether that happens. The school management is on a high horse and is not paying any heed to the government."
"After our previous meeting with the PWD minister on April 27, Singh had asked SDM Gogia to look into the matter," said Dev Kumar, the president of DPSG Parents Association. "Things started moving once the SDM got involved. He takes the matter seriously and has been trying to solve the problem. We trust that if he is involved, there is hope that the fees will be rolled back."
Parents have been protesting against fee hikes for a while now. The SDM arranged meetings between the parents and the school management on May 1 and May 3. However, no one from the school management showed up at the meetings.
