Raj Nagar, Gzb: Father of IPS officer found dead with bullet injury in head

*Updated copy: The father of an IPS officer, Sanjeev Tyagi, was found with a gunshot wound in his head at his Ghaziabad residence in Raj Nagar on Thursday morning. After the gunshot was heard around 6.45 am, family members rushed him to a private hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. The deceased has been identified as Ishwar Chand Tyagi, 65.

The body has been sent for post mortem at the district hospital. According to the police, IPS officer Sanjeev Tyagi, part of the 2010 batch of the UP cadre, is posted in Lucknow. His father Ishwar Chand Tyagi resided with other family members in their home in Sector 2, Raj Nagar, a posh Ghaziabad locality.

The police said prima facie, it looked like the result of an internal family dispute. Officials said that there had been a string of disputes within the family involving Ishwar Chand Tyagi's younger son, Dabbu, who is undergoing treatment for schizophrenia at the Vimhans Hospital in Delhi.

An FIR has been lodged against Dabbu, the younger son, for allegedly shooting his father in the head. The FIR was lodged at the Kavinagar police station under Section 302 of IPC (punishment for murder).

"Three police teams have been formed to nab the accused, who has been missing since morning. All angles are being investigated," said Akash Tomar, SP City, Ghaziabad.
