Hooligans better behave this Holi! Ghaziabad Police has rolled up its sleeves and will use WhatsApp to check any disruption of law and order on this day.
The police has decided to release phone numbers where people can send information about any unlawful behaviour. Dharmendra Singh Yadav, SSP Ghaziabad, instructed all station officers (SO) to give specific mobile numbers to residents through their respective RWAs and market associations. Taking a cue from this, Gorakh Nath Yadav, SO Indirapuram, has released the number 9958309966 to the RWAs in his area.
People can report any nuisance just by sending a message via WhatsApp and the police would respond immediately.
However, president of Indirapuram’s Federation of Apartment Owners Association Alok Kumar said that such initiatives were taken in the past too but didn’t succeed.
The police has also launched a special drive in which they will check vehicles and confiscate liquor to curb its smuggling from other states into Ghaziabad.
