NEFOWA demands Metro connectivity and more NEFOWA members meet Amit Mohan Prasad, CEO of Noida and Greater Noida Authority at GNIDA office

Members of Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA) and residents of several societies of Noida Extension met Amit Mohan Prasad, CEO of Noida and Greater Noida Authority, today.

At the meeting, held at the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) office, NEFOWA members asked officials to restart work on the cancelled Noida Extension Metro project.

A lot of buyers had bought flats in the area because of Metro connectivity.

However, a few days ago, Prasad had announced that the approved Metro project for Noida Extension and Greater Noida West had been cancelled. He cited financial constraints as the reason for the sudden pull-back.

Abhishek Kumar, NEFOWA president, told City Spidey that flat owners who had bought homes in Noida Extension and Greater Noida West thinking of Metro connectivity were crestfallen.

“We also asked the CEO to instal traffic signals at various points across Noida Extension. There are no speed breakers and no signals in the area, leading to an increasing number of road accidents,” he added.

Residents also demanded the construction of an underpass and a foot overbridge near Kisan Chowk.

Shailendra Baranwal, a member of NEFOWA, highlighted another issue.

He said registration of flats should have started for projects where the builder had already obtained occupancy and completion certificates from the government.

“We also discussed the issue of Skywalks projects in Noida Extension, where the builder had fled without completing the project. The flat owners asked the CEO to hand over the project to some other builder. The CEO assured us that a decision would be taken very soon,” Baranwal added.

When City Spidey contacted Prasad, he said, “I will conduct a survey for installing traffic signals in Noida Extension soon and will also discuss other matters with my team before I take action.”
