Antriksh Golf View I, Noida, is playing with fire...

Residents of Antriksh Golf View I in Sector 78, Noida, are up in arms against the builder. They allege that the builder managed to somehow obtain the fire-clearance certificate from the authorities without complying to fire-safety norms.

They have lodged a complaint with Noida Authority against the builder.

Brijesh Kumar Singh, a resident, said the society’s firefighting equipment is not in place. He added, "The builder has not followed any fire-safety norm. But it has managed to obtain a no-objection certificate [NOC] from the department of fire service. But the ground reality is shocking. The equipment installed in the society can't be relied upon — nothing is functional!”

Another resident, Brij Bhushan Bani, added, “The builder had submitted a copy of fire clearance to the Authority while applying for the completion certificate a few months back. We had objected then, and urged the Authority to ensure that the builder complied with basic fire-safety standards.”

The residents had recently held a meeting with Rakesh Yadav, managing director of the Antriksh Group, but he failed to respond to the residents’ complaints.

Shishir Singh, additional CEO of Noida Authority, said the builder had submitted a copy of the fire NOC, but a completion certificate will not be issued till a proper firefighting equipment is installed in the society.

While issuing fire clearance, a site inspection is conducted by the issuing authority to ensure that the project complies with basic safety standards. But for Antriksh Golf View I, this process was not followed.

When City Spidey contacted Noida Fire Service, AR Sharma, who has the additional charge of the chief fire officer, confirmed that the builder had been issued an NOC. However, he assured that he would look into the complaint to ensure that the builder followed fire-safety norms.

But here’s the bigger question — why had the department issued the clearance in the first place?
