Sports lovers in East Delhi will no longer need to carry cash with them when they visit the canteen of Yamuna Sports Complex in Surajmal Vihar, near IP Extension. They can pay using the BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) app launched by Yamuna Sports Authority.

The management team of the sports complex has introduced the BHIM app to facilitate cashless transactions.

Five days back, Varun Sharma, a frequent visitor to the Yamuna Sports Complex, had complained to the authority about this.

In a letter to the sports complex authority, he said, “Despite being a huge sports complex, cashless payment option is not available in the canteen. It is pertinent to also note that thousands of beneficiaries who visit the sports complex for various reasons go to the canteen.”

Talking to City Spidey, Sharma said, “Many visit this complex every day, and often they do not carry cash. But after hard training, everybody feels hungry. That’s why I requested the managing team of the Yamuna Sports Complex to facilitate cashless transactions at the canteen.”

Several sports lovers from housing societies in IP Extension visit the sports complex every day to play table tennis, rugby, boxing and other sports.
