NHAI, please manage the construction work better...

Work on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has left East Delhi’s residential colonies on either side of NH 24 grappling with terrible traffic snarls. The areas worst-affected by the predicament are East Delhi’s IP Extension, Vasundhara Enclave and Kaushmabi in Ghaziabad.

The residents of the area were of the view that ever since construction on highway has commenced, commuters have started using the roads passing through residential colonies to avoid the  traffic snarls at NH 24.

Residents said although they were aware that completion of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway would ensure smooth traffic in the future, NHAI should have managed the construction site better.

Shri Prakash, a resident of Kaushambi, said, “NHAI has not deployed any manpower to manage traffic. There is no signboard to guide the commuters."

In a recent development, Ghazipur flyover, which used be a direct link between the Kaushambi area and Delhi or Noida, has been closed.

A cab driver who was heading from Ghazipur to Noida, said, “Now that the Ghazipur flyover is closed for the public, I have two options to reach Noida: either move towards Vasundhara Enclave or take the Ghazipur mandi route.”
